"The Machine"

Eric Meyer’s musical skills and talents were nurtured by a musical family from a young age. He credits his desire to be a bass player to his uncle, Maynard Meyer.  He was given his first bass at age 11 and the journey began.

His blues career began with his first band: The Dog Pound Blues Band”.  At the age of 15, Eric, who was underage and did not drive, was often driven to his gigs by his father and he sometimes would have to hide behind the stage during breaks.  At the age of 18, Eric began his professional career heading out on the road with the David Collen Bryant Band right after he graduated from high school.

Eric also has a reputation as a guitar player and has many credits to his name for that instrument.  Eric devoted much of his early 20’s to playing electric guitar and 30’s and 40’s to playing solo acoustic guitar shows as well as bass.

Eric’s steady beat and tempos have earned him the nickname “The Machine”.

Eric has been a part pf several bands which have enjoyed success through out the Twin Cities and Upper Midwest. These include the Pete Kavanaugh Project, Michael Shane Band, The Daily Grind, and the Kurt Jorgenson Band

One of the highlights of his career came as he joined the Dee Miller Band in 2015.  This band was chosen to participate in the International Blues Challenge in 2019 where they placed as semi-finalists in the contest.  The album “Leopard Print Dress” by Dee Miller Band earned national and international playtime.  Following Dee Miller’s retirement, Eric was part of the Craig Clark Band as well as working as a fill in musician with local and national artists. He has continued to do studio recording work as well.

Currently, Eric has joined Toronzo Cannon, an Alligator Records artist who has several award winning songs and albums with national and international recognition.
